Description

The book is one of the best bedside references of neuro-oncology that I have come across. Clinical pearls and case-based teaching are some of its unique features. The accompanying eBook means easy bedside access, making it a truly useful reference when seeing a complicated neuro-oncology patient. The eBook and print book mirror each other.

Purpose

The purpose is to provide a quick reference guide for physicians, advanced practice providers, and trainees who see neuro-oncology patients. Given the ever-expanding complexity of the care of neuro-oncology patients, books like this are needed, and having access to an online version makes it much easier to reference quickly at bedside.

Audience

Although the title states that the book is for neurologists, this is a must have for any physician, advanced practice provider, or trainee caring for neuro-oncology patients. It is geared mainly towards the care of adult patients. The book more than meets the needs of the intended audience. The contributors are leaders in the field of neuro-oncology.

Features

The book covers many aspects of neuro-oncology, from the diagnosis of brain tumors to their management and complications arising from radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. Among its best aspects is the way it is organized into different sections making it easy to reference. The case-based teaching and clinical pearls help make this complicated topic easier to understand and retain.

Assessment

This excellent book is a welcome addition to the personal library of any clinician caring for neuro-oncology patients. Although there are other books in this field, what sets this one apart is its easy accessibility, due to the organization of the print book, the clinical pearls, and the availability of the eBook.
