Christopher J. Gallagher, MD is Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of the Residency Training Program at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is the co-author of the runaway bestseller, Board Stiff TEE, 2nd Edition, as well as Simulation in Anesthesia, and the author of Board Stiff: Preparation for Anesthesia Orals, 3rd Edition.

Dr. Gallagher received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis and performed a residency and fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Emory University in Atlanta.

For the past 25 years, Dr. Gallagher has trained anesthesiology residents, written extensively on clinical and research anesthesiology topics, and has become an internationally recognized expert in simulation education, a key component for medical student and residency clinical skills training. Dr. Gallagher has enhanced education by developing interactive training, built board review courses based on hundreds of questions he devised, and created many clinical simulation training modules from which students gain hands-on knowledge of diseases and conditions in emergency and operating room scenarios.

Dr. Gallagher has received numerous teaching awards, including Duke Anesthesia Medical Students, Teacher of the Year; Duke Anesthesia Department, Teacher of the Year; Miami Anesthesia Department, Mentor of the Year; Stony Brook Anesthesia Department, Teacher of the Year; International Anesthesia Research Society, Achievement in Teaching; and Stony Brook University Innovation in Education Award.
