Gregory G. Ginsberg, MD, FASGE, is a professor of medicine in the gastroenterology division at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, and the executive director of Endoscopic Services at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. He is the co-author of Clinical Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 2nd Edition.

A member of the governing board of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) since 2005, Dr. Ginsberg was named president of the society for 2011-2012. Among his other honors are the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine’s 2004 Luigi Mastroianni Jr. Clinical Innovator Award of Excellence, and the 2008 ASGE Distinguished Educator Award. He is regularly recognized in Best Doctors in America, America’s Top Doctors, and Philadelphia Magazine’s Top Docs.

Dr. Ginsberg received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He performed a residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC, and stayed on to complete fellowships in gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy. In 1993, Dr. Ginsberg joined the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Much of Dr. Ginsberg’s ongoing clinical research is focused on successfully applying minimally invasive approaches to digestive tract cancers as alternatives to major operative interventions. He has authored over 150 publications including authoritative texts in the field. Dr. Ginsberg is a former council member of the American Gastroenterological Association, and a member of the American College of Gastroenterology.
