James N. Palmer, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Pennsylvania. He is an author of the text Atlas of Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Surgery. He specializes in otorhinolaryngology with clinical interest in sinus surgery, endoscopic skull base surgery, endoscopic CSF leak repair, and surgical management of epistaxis. His research specialties include minimally invasive approaches to sinus and skull base tumors, topical medications for sinusitis, novel therapeutics for recalcitrant chronic rhinosinusitis, bacterial biofilms and chronic rhinosinusitis, cilia function and chronic rhinosinusitis.

Dr. Palmer served as a resident in otolaryngology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and was a fellow of the Stanley J. Sarnoff Endowment for Research in Cardiovascular Science. He also served as a fellow in rhinology and sinus surgery at the Georgia Nasal and Sinus Institute and was a Daiichi Clinical Scholar of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation. He is board certified in otorhinolaryngology. He is active in many professional societies including the American Rhinologic Society, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, the International Symposium on Infection and Allergy of the Nose, and the International Rhinologic Society. Dr. Palmer has been repeatedly recognized by Best Doctors in America.
