Jonathan A. Myers, MD, is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Rush Medical College in Chicago. He is a co-author of Rush University Medical Center Review of Surgery, 6th Edition.

 

Dr. Myers received his medical degree from Rush Medical College, did his residency at Rush University Medical Center and Cook County Hospital, and received his fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center.

 

He is a member of the clinical team of the Coleman Foundation Comprehensive Clinic for Gastrointestinal Cancers and was credited with developing the Minimally Invasive Training Center at Rush.  He is the Director of the Rush Bariatric Surgery Program and served as the Director of Undergraduate Surgical Education.

 

Dr. Myers has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals, book chapters, and co-edited several surgical textbooks. He serves on multiple committees both within the medical center and in local and national surgical societies and is presently the Patient Safety Officer at Rush. He has presented his research at national meetings, including the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the Academic Surgical Congress, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

 

His special interests include minimally invasive surgery, surgery of the gastrointestinal tract, biliopancreatic surgery, bariatric surgery, and hernia repair.
