Joseph Webster, MD is Director of Amputation Care and Clinician, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. He is a co-author of Atlas of Orthoses and Assistive Devices, 5th Edition.

 

Dr. Webster has served as the Medical Director of the VHA Amputation System of Care (ASoC) since February 2011, and has experience in the field of PM&R as a clinician, teacher, and researcher. Dr. Webster also is currently the Medical Director for the Servicemember Transitional Advanced Rehabilitation program located at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, and is an Associate Professor in the Department of PM&R at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

 

Dr. Webster is a pioneer in the area of osseointegration, which involves bonding the connectors for prosthetics directly to a patient’s bone instead of a socket, as well as other areas involved in advancing care for patients with amputations, including telerehabilitation. He has also served in Western Africa to help combat the Ebola crisis.
