Linda R. Adkison, PhD, is a professor of genetics and Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB) in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Adkison joined KCUMB in 2008 after nineteen years at Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia, where she held the post of Professor of Genetics and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is the author of Elsevier’s Integrated Review: Genetics, 2nd Edition.

Dr. Adkison is a broadly trained geneticist with expertise in molecular genetics and experience in characterizing DNA in multiple animal models. She has served on site visit and review panels for NIH and the US Department of Defense. Among her many honors and awards are an NIH National Research Service Award, and a Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program award.

After earning her doctorate in genetics from Texas A&M University, Dr. Adkison completed a post-doctoral NIH fellowship in molecular genetics at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine. She performed post-graduate training through Harvard Medical School, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In 2000, Dr. Adkison completed a fellowship in the Hedwig van Amerigen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) for Women program.

Among the societies in which Dr. Adkison is active are the American College of Medical Genetics, the American Society of Human Genetics, the Society for Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine, and the Association of American Medical Colleges. She is widely published with over 50 peer-reviewed original articles, 36 peer-reviewed abstracts, two books, and several other publications.
