Mark B. Landon, MD is the Richard L. Meiling Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. He is a co-author of Obstetrics: Normal and Problem Pregnancies, 6th Edition and Delivery After Previous Cesarean, An Issue of Clinics in Perinatology.

Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Landon earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in New York City. At Cornell, he was elected president of Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Landon completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and a fellowship in maternal fetal medicine at the same institution under Steven Gabbe, MD. Later at Ohio State, Dr. Landon, along with his mentor Dr. Gabbe, established the Diabetes in Pregnancy Program, one of the five largest in the United States.

An internationally recognized authority on diabetes in pregnancy as well as vaginal birth after cesarean section, Dr. Landon has published more than 200 original articles and book chapters. He has served for more than 20 years as Ohio State’s co-investigator for the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development Maternal Fetal Medicine Units Network. In this capacity, Dr. Landon has been the principal investigator of several multicenter studies and has led the Cesarean Section Registry as well as the largest prospective treatment trial ever conducted for gestational diabetes mellitus.

Since 1991, Dr. Landon has served on boards of the State of Ohio Diabetes Task Force, the Ohio Affiliate of the American Diabetes Association, the Columbus Obstetrical and Gynecologic Society, and the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine. He has served on the board of directors of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and has been an examiner for many years for general obstetrics as well as maternal fetal medicine for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Dr. Landon has been named in Best Obstetricians in Columbus, Best Doctors in America, and America’s Best Doctors.
