“No two surgeons ever do anything alike.  So it really behooves the student—and we’re all students in this field — to get as many viewpoints as possible to create their own approach to the way they perform their art.” – Mark Murphy, MD

What’s New in the Field of Otolaryngology

I think technology has had a tremendous impact on surgery, in general, and on facial plastic, specifically.  Surgery principles have been relatively stable for decades, and in the last 10 to 20 years, technology has helped surgical techniques take a light-year step forward.  It’s been a very exciting time to be practicing.

About Master Techniques in Rhinoplasty

Master Techniques in Rhinoplasty is a multi-disciplinary textbook that fits the surgeon mind-set. Surgeons are very visual people, so the book is heavy on video and illustrations that come from the world’s preeminent surgeons in the particular procedures covered in the book. We have dozens of contributing authors to this book — from head and neck surgery, otolaryngology, as well as general plastic surgery.

Different Perspectives

No two surgeons ever do anything alike.  So it really behooves the student—and we’re all students in this field — to get as many viewpoints as possible to create their own approach to the way they perform their art. Master Techniques in Rhinoplasty gives those different viewpoints.  It’s not just one person saying, “This is what’s worked for me.”  It’s multiple people saying, “This is what’s worked for me.”  And of equal importance to what has worked, are discussions in the book on what hasn’t worked and why it hasn’t worked.  The book also has strong video and illustrations. As surgeons, we need to see these things.  It’s very easy to read something, but to visualize it is a vital aspect of education in this field. Our book has over 30 videos, several hundred illustrations, and it’s perfectly tailored for the surgeon who really wants to be a master of these techniques.
