Mary Ann Werz, MD, PhD, is Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at University of Cleveland and Associate Professor of Neurology at Case Western University School of Medicine. Her clinical specialties include epilepsy, electroencephalography, epilepsy surgery, medication management of epilepsy, and status epilepticus. She also maintains research interests in antiepileptic drugs and cognition, the effect of AEDs on elderly, and epilepsy surgery. Dr. Werz is an editor of Epilepsy Syndromes.

Dr. Werz holds a PhD in Neurosciences and her MD from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society, the National Association of Epilepsy Centers, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Society of Neuroscience. Dr. Werz has been the recipient of Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship, the Warner-Lambert Duncan-McCarthy Award of the Michigan Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience, and the Legacy Award from the Epilepsy Association. She has been principal investigator and co-investigator for numerous drug trials and is an author of dozens of papers and abstracts for peer-reviewed journals.
