Interview with Alan J Wein, MD, PhD, FACS

How has Penn Clinical Manual of Urology, 3rd Edition evolved since the previous edition? How has it evolved since the first edition?

The 1st edition was really done for Saunders years ago. Publication then switches to Elsevier. The current rendition represents a complete overall of every aspect of urologic knowledge included in the text. The text was meant to be factual but also to represent the philosophy of the authors of the various chapters, all chosen with care for their expertise.

What is the most exciting aspect of the new edition? What chapter or topic covered in Penn Clinical Manual of Urology, 3rd Edition are you most excited about?

All the chapters have been brought up to date.

Who will find the greatest value from this book and why? Has the audience changed since Penn Clinical Manual of Urology, 3rd Edition first published?

The book was written primarily for the medical student on rotation in Urology or with a special interest in Urology, the resident trainee in Urology and related specialties, the advanced practice providers for Urology, and the primary care providers and specialists in other fields who deal with urologic issues.

Is there anything else about the book you’d like to say?

It represents a companion to those subjects in Urology that the above intended audience would be apt to encounter.
