Randolph S. Marshall, MD, MS the Elisabeth K. Harris Professor of Neurology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City; Chief of the Stroke Division, and Attending Neurologist on the Stroke Service at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He is the lead author of On Call Neurology, 4th Edition.

 

Dr. Marshall received his medical degree from the University of California. After completing his Neurology residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, he completed two years of a Cerebrovascular fellowship with Dr. J.P. Mohr at the Neurological Institute at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical center, after which he joined the faculty of Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is board certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology.

 

Dr. Marshall has a clinical practice in Neurology with a focus on cerebrovascular diseases and stroke. He is the also the program director for Columbia’s Neurovascular Postdoctoral Fellowship. Dr. Marshall has been continuously funded by NIH grants for his research since his appointment at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1994. Current NIH grants include a program project—the Columbia Collaborative Specialized Program of Translational Research in Acute Stroke (SPOTRIAS)—and an RO1 grant to study the correlation between cerebrovascular hemodynamics and cognitive function in patients with carotid artery stenosis. He also participates in several clinical trials for acute stroke therapy, stroke prevention, and stroke recovery.
