Robert B. Daroff, MD, a renowned educator, lecturer, author, and expert in neuro-ophthalmology, is a professor, Associate Dean for Development, and Chair Emeritus of Neurology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and University Hospitals Case Medical Center—both in Cleveland, Ohio.  A military veteran, Dr. Daroff has had numerous faculty and administrative appointments; been an active member in many medical, scientific, and medical editing societies; and served on the advisory panels of national and international committees.

Dr. Daroff’s extensive research includes the discovery of three entities in neuro-ophthalmology, including two eponymous ones – Daroff’s Sign and the Brandt-Daroff Manoeuvre.

Dr. Daroff is past president of the American Neurological Association and of the American Headache Society.  In recognition of his work and many contributions to the field, he has received numerous honors and awards including Honorary Member, American Academy of Neurology, 1997; John R. Graham Senior Clinician’s Forum Award, American Headache Society, 2005; University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Neurological Institute Leadership Award, 2007; and the A.B. Baker Lifetime Achievement in Neurological Education Award, American Academy of Neurology, 2008.  The Robert B. Daroff Department of Neurology Excellence in Teaching Award was established in his name in 2004 at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

He has written hundreds of journal articles and served as editor of society journals, and is the author, co-author, and contributor of many books including the most recent edition of Bradley’s Neurology in Clinical Practice.
