Robin K. Ohls, MD is a professor of Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico, and the associate director of the Clinical Translational Science Center at the University of New Mexico. She is the co-author, with Akhil Maheshwari, MD, of Hematology, Immunology and Infectious Disease: Neonatology Questions and Controversies, 2nd Edition. 

Dr. Ohls has been active in clinical/translational research for over 20 years. She is the PI of an NIH-funded multicenter study evaluating long term neuro-developmental effects of erythropoietin and darbepoetin (the BRITE Study: brain imaging and developmental follow up of infants treated with erythropoietin). In addition, she is performing a multicenter study evaluating biomarker profiles of neonatal sepsis and recovery.

Dr. Ohls received her medical degree in 1987 from the University of Utah, after earning an undergraduate degree in human biology from Stanford in 1983. She went on to perform an internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Utah, specializing in pediatrics and neonatology. She has been on faculty at the University of New Mexico since 1995. Dr. Ohls is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics with a sub-specialty in neonatology and perinatology.

A well-known speaker in the field of neonatal hematology, Dr. Ohls has served on the council and as secretary/treasurer of the Western Society of Pediatric Research. She is an active member of the Society of Pediatric Research. Other honors include the Outstanding Clinical Teacher Award for the Department of Pediatrics, and a Faculty Teaching Award, from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.
