Raymond M. Stein, MD, FRSCS is Medical Director of Bochner Eye Institute in Toronto; Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Toronto; Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology at Scarborough General Hospital in Scarborough, Ontario; and Cornea Consultant at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Stein is a co-author of The Ophthalmic Assistant, 9th Edition.
Dr. Stein began his career by completing a medical degree at the University of Toronto Medical School. He then performed an ophthalmology residency at the Mayo Clinic and a cornea and external diseases fellowship at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.

Charles P. Wilkinson, MD is Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He is a co-author of Retina, 5th Edition.
A native of Oklahoma, Dr. Wilkinson received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University, did his residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and performed a vitreoretinal fellowship at Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and Hospital.
Dr. Wilkinson served as a director on the American Board of Ophthalmology from 1997 to 2004, chairing the board in 2004. He was president of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2007, as well as president of the Retina Society in 2004 and 2005, and secretary/treasurer of the American Ophthalmological Society from 1999 to 2006. Peter Wiedemann, MD is Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Leipzig in Germany, and is Director of the University Eye Hospital. He is a co-author of Retina, 5th Edition.
Dr. Wiedemann is internationally recognized for his academic and clinical accomplishments in retina, pharmacology, and cell and molecular biology. He is the European University Professors of Ophthalmology representative for Germany and the European Association for Vision and Eye Research Program Secretary for Retina. He has been the president of the German Ophthalmology Society and he is a member of the Advisory Committee of the International Council of Ophthalmology and the Academia Leopoldina.
Dr. Wiedemann served as chairman of the World Ophthalmology Congress Scientific Program, International Council of Ophthalmology in 2012, where his duties included the selection of topics for more than 500 scientific sessions, representing 35 ophthalmology subspecialties, and coordinating the recruitment of 2,000 internationally recognized guest speakers. Jonathan J. Dutton, MD, PhD, FACS is Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the author of Atlas of Clinical and Surgical Orbital Anatomy, 2nd Edition and Radiology of the Orbit and Visual Pathways.
After receiving a PhD from Harvard University and an MD from Washington University in St. Louis, Dr. Dutton did an internship at the University of Washington, Seattle, and his residency back at Washington University. He performed a glaucoma fellowship at Washington University and an ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery and ophthalmic oncology fellowship at the University of Iowa. He is certified in ophthalmology, ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Dutton is particularly interested in intraocular malignant melanoma and general ophthalmic oncology, orbital implants and grafting biomaterials, ocuoloplastic reconstructive techniques, orbital diseases and imaging techniques, facial dystonias and chemodenervation, orbital functional anatomy, and evolution of vertebrate visual systems.
As a pioneer in the field of orbital reconstruction and treatment of spastic eyelid disease, Dr. Dutton’s practice covers the full scope of problems related to the eyelids and orbits. David B. Elliott, PhD, MCOptom, FAAO is Professor of Clinical Vision Science at the University of Bradford, Bradford School of Optometry and Vision Sciences in the UK. He is the author of the highly regarded Clinical Procedures in Primary Eye Care, 4th Edition.
Dr. Elliott graduated from Bradford Optometry in 1983 and became a Member of the College of Optometrists in 1984. He obtained his PhD on the topic of the assessment of cataract. After serving as an assistant professor at the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in Canada, he returned to Bradford in 1995.
As a professor of optometry at Bradford, Dr. Elliott is a module leader for Clinical Optometry and Communication Skills and a contributor to Visual and Ocular Assessment and Ocular and Systemic Disease. Dr. Sadda received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Following an internship at the W. Beaumont Hospital, he completed his ophthalmology residency and fellowships in neuro-ophthalmology and medical retina at the Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins.

Mark J. Mannis, MD, FACS is Professor and Chair in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Science at UC Davis Health System Eye Center, University of California, Davis, in Sacramento. He is a co-author of the two-volume set, Cornea, 3rd Edition and Ocular Surface Disease: Cornea, Conjunctiva and Tear Film.
Dr. Mannis received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. David Taylor, MD, FRCS, FRCP, FRCOphth, DSc(med) is Professor Emeritus of the Institute of Child Health at the University College London and Director of Examinations of the International Council of Ophthalmology in London. He is a co-author of the widely respected and highly reviewed Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, 4th Edition.
Dr. Taylor was born in Australia, spent his early years in Asia, and was educated in England. He attended university in Liverpool, where medical and surgical house jobs soon led to ophthalmology training, first at St. Paul’s Eye Hospital, Liverpool, then Great Ormond Street Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. His experience in pediatric and neuro-ophthalmology was enhanced by an observership in Washington, D.C. and a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Taylor was appointed to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and The National Hospitals for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London in 1976.
Dr. Taylor’s clinical interests include pediatric neuro-ophthalmology, developmental problems, cataract, and metabolic diseases. He has received several research grants, authored over 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals, presented 17 named lectures, received 11 medals, and has done 14 visiting professorships.
