Description
Part of the Specialty Imaging series, this book covers different approaches to the performance and interpretation of arthrography.
Purpose
The purpose is to review the performance of different image-guided techniques to arthrography. It is intended as a “one stop shop” for understanding and employing these techniques.
Audience
The target audience is practicing radiologists and trainees. It is written at a level appropriate for any individual performing image-guided arthroscopic procedures. The authors are from a well-known institution.
Features
Despite the bulleted approach favored by the Specialty Imaging series, the book is easy to follow and highlights key information for each topic. The material is supported by high quality images with appropriate captions, photographs, and diagrams. The discussion of knee imaging is particularly well written and covers a variety of pathologies in addition to anatomy and procedure-related tips. One cosmetic issue that I encountered with my copy of the book is that the cover was upside down and inverted, although no text was omitted.
Assessment
The book addresses a gap in the book literature, and this second edition has new chapters reportedly reflecting advances in imaging techniques and new teaching approaches. It is a very useful guide for trainees who are learning to perform image-guided arthrography. It should be included in all resident libraries.
