Description
This book is the classic 2-volume textbook of pediatrics which has been revised and expanded with many new current topics with current references. The previous edition was published in 2020.
Purpose
The purpose of this most excellent, comprehensive, clinically relevant book is to provide clinicians caring for children, adolescents, or young adults with the resources they need to provide comprehensive care. Both the 2-volume book and eBook are well organized and well written and definitely meet the objectives summarized in the preface. Trainees at all levels as well as practicing pediatric providers will benefit from this book.
Audience
The book is meant for trainees, providers, and clinicians at every level which includes medical, nursing, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, residents, fellows, and attendings. Editors and authors are definitely credible authorities on the subjects they write about with many recognized experts based on their credentials and publications.
Features
This book covers all aspects of pediatrics. The 770 chapters are concise, well organized, and with current references. The chapters are divided into 33 parts including the subjects of behavioral and psychiatric disorders, nutrition, genetics, immunology, infectious diseases, rehabilitation medicine, and environmental health. Later sections discuss abnormalities broken down by body systems. The bibliography is in the eBook so you must have access to it to review the references. The tables, figures, and charts are all well presented. The book content is comprehensive and easily accessible.
Website Features
The website is easily accessible and basically duplicates the textbook. The first chapter in the ebook is related to opioids and the last part, covering laboratory medicine, is also covered only in the ebook. The references are easily accessible.
Assessment
This is the 22nd edition of the classic, current, up-to-date, and well-referenced book, which comes in a two-volume text and an ebook with the references listed in the ebook alone. This is highly recommended and a text I have used for over 35 years and will continue to use and recommend for pediatric clinicians at every level of training: attendings, fellows, residents, medical students, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and students at every level of training. It has been updated as well.
