This book is a symptom and selected diagnosis-oriented book based on the historical drawings of Dr. Frank Netter.

Purpose

The purpose is to depict the various medical conditions using the Netter images as the basis for expounding on the anatomy, pathophysiology, and treatment of the condition. The book is a great graphical orientation of these conditions for students of medicine and the ancillary disciplines.

Audience

The book is primarily targeted to medical students as there is not a great depth of information and no reference material.

Features

The book is divided into the traditional organ systems with each section further divided into chapters addressing selected medical conditions. There are sections on common symptoms, common examination findings, common abnormalities in blood tests, and the performance and interpretation of common tests and procedures. The highlight of the book is the extensive use of the Netter drawings that are supplemented by many figures, x-rays, and photomicrographs.

Assessment

This book is another of the Elsevier series of books highlighting the Netter drawings. Each is exquisitely well produced and this book continues that tradition.
