Purpose

This book provides the most up-to-date, evidence-based, and patient-centered approach to nuclear studies, which aims to help physicians with personalized patient evaluation and treatment.

Audience

This book is a valuable resource for cardiologists, cardiology fellows, radiologists, and nuclear medicine physicians and trainees.

Features

This book provides an overview of instrumentation, protocols, and interpretation of cardiac SPECT and PET imaging. There are dedicated chapters on applications of nuclear studies in coronary artery disease, heart failure, and special patient populations with chronic kidney disease, microvascular dysfunction, and cardiometabolic disease. Each chapter includes a brief introduction to the topic with multiple case vignettes, high-quality images, and tables to enhance learning. The authors discuss the emerging role of PET/CT in the evaluation of aortic stenosis, infective endocarditis, large vessel vasculitis, and peripheral vascular disease. The book also summarizes other cardiac imaging modalities available in addition to SPECT and PET, based on disease pathology. There are key points in the beginning and questions at the end of the chapters to reinforce understanding and facilitate review. The book outlines various clinical trials and gives future directions to researchers and clinicians to identify and treat diseases.
