Description
This book provides a comprehensive update to pertinent topics in family medicine, with questions and a case-based format to assess knowledge and assist in preparation for family medicine board exams. Combining a knowledge assessment with an easy-to-read, succinct update helps readers keep up with the breadth of topics in family medicine.
Purpose
This book offers a helpful approach when preparing for board certification examinations or keeping up to date with areas of family medicine that are encountered less frequently in practice.
Audience
This book is appropriate for residents as a study text throughout training or in preparing for the certification exam. It is also useful for practicing family physicians who wish to remain up to date on clinical topics.
Features
The book presents a breadth of topics in family medicine in a case-based/question format to enable family medicine physicians to assess knowledge and target continuing education. The brief review that follows the questions and the end-of-section summary presents a quick update on topics. The content is up to date and each section highlights key areas and facts about each topic.
Assessment
I have used this review book since residency because of the format and high-quality information. Much like the American Board of Family Medicine’s Continuous Knowledge Self-Assessment, this book enables readers to assess knowledge and guide learning. I particularly like the summaries at the end of each chapter that allow readers to review key facts about each topic.
