Description

This is a review, from experts, of chronic kidney diseases and their up-to-date management. The book includes an ebook version that makes it easy to access anywhere.

Purpose

The purpose is to provide the required up-to-date guidance to manage patients with renal diseases based on the most recent knowledge and advances in management since the previous edition was published in 2010.

Audience

This is a great resource for those interested in chronic kidney diseases and their management. It is directed at busy clinicians, scientists, educators, and students of the kidney. It is most appropriate for those who practice general nephrology, nephrology trainees, and researchers in the field.

Features

The 49 chapters are grouped into five sections. The first three sections focus on chronic kidney diseases, complications, management, and dialysis. The fourth section covers transplantation and the fifth section is on acute kidney injury.Chapters in each section move start with the basics, which makes it easy to read and understand, and sections also highlight epidemiology, cost, and outcomes. The easy-to-read text is augmented by clear tables, figures, and flow charts. Although photographs are not in color, they were chosen to serve their purpose and do not suffer from a lack of color. Furthermore, color versions of some of them can be viewed online.

Assessment

This updated edition is definitely needed to reflect current guidance given the advances in the decade since the previous edition. The book is most suitable as a reference for trainees, practicing clinicians, and teachers in nephrology. I would recommend this for clinicians and trainees in this field.
