Description 

This book is part of the Diagnostic Pathology Series, covering benign and malignant lesions of lymph nodes, as well as extranodal lymphomas. This third edition has been updated from the previous version, published in 2017, according to the most recent fifth edition of the WHO Classification of Hematolymphoid Tumors. 

Purpose 

The purpose of the book is to provide a systematic, easy-to-use reference in hematopathology. The book has reached its stated objective. 

Audience 

The book is written for surgical pathologists and hematopathologists, as well as pathology trainees (residents and hematopathology fellows). 

Features 

The book is divided into 12 sections. The first three sections cover benign conditions involving lymph nodes, while the rest of the sections deal with non-Hodgkin and Hodgkin lymphomas. Separate sections are dedicated to immunodeficiency-associated lymphoproliferation, granulocytic/histiocytic tumors, and nonhematopoietic proliferations in lymph nodes. Characteristic of the Diagnostic Pathology series, the book provides clinical and histologic features, results of relevant ancillary studies, and a differential diagnosis for each entity in an easy-to-read, bulleted format. It is generously illustrated, and each entity includes multiple associated images, histology, as well as images of ancillary studies, including flow cytometry histograms and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) images, when pertinent. Figure legends nicely describe the salient features of each entity. After each entity, the book provides a list of references, selected for relevance. The end of the book contains a comprehensive index. 

Assessment 

Since its first edition, this book has been a favorite lymph node pathology text among trainees and practicing pathologists alike. Compared to other lymph node pathology texts on the market, this book is unique in its easy-to-read, bulleted format. Concise yet comprehensive, it is an ideal, quick, “on the scope” reference during sign-out. One of the best features of the book is the microscopic images, which are plentiful, well-curated, and of excellent quality. The book is so well illustrated that it can be used as an atlas. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in lymph node/lymphoma pathology.
