This skin pathology book contains excellent, intuitive diagnostic decision diagrams based on characteristic morphology seen under the microscope. The color histologic photos are accompanied by color clinical photos to enhance understanding. 

Purpose 

The purpose of the book is to teach dermatopathology to dermatology residents, dermatologists, and dermatopathologists-in-training. 

Audience 

The target audience for this book includes dermatology residents and dermatologists. 

Features 

This reference is unique in that it provides clinically and histologically useful tips on differentiating similar groups of disorders. The organization is well thought out and can be used as a framework for generating correct diagnoses. I like the simplicity of the explanations and the logical presentation of how to determine the correct classification of disorders and how to narrow it down by observing particular findings histologically or a lack of certain changes. I also appreciate the large pages that make it easy to read and take notes. 

Assessment 

Mastering the principles of dermatopathology is a relative breeze with this book. Compared to my favorite inflammatory disorder pathology text, Dr. Bernard Ackerman’s Histologic Diagnosis of Inflammatory Skin Diseases, this reference surpasses the old master in many ways. This updated version is necessary given the number of new entities described.
