Robert W. Wilmott, MD, FRCP is IMMUNO Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at St. Louis University and Chief Pediatrician at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. Dr. Wilmott is the lead author of Kendig and Chernick’s Disorders of the Respiratory Tract in Children, 9th Edition.
Dr. Wilmott received his MD from University College, London and completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children in London. After serving as chief resident in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Dr. Wilmott returned to London to complete a fellowship in pulmonary and cystic fibrosis at the Hospital for Sick Children and Institute of Child Health.
Formerly director of pulmonary medicine, allergy, and clinical immunology at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Dr. Wilmott has also served on the faculties of the University of Pennsylvania, Wayne State University School of Medicine, and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He has received several awards and honors, served on six editorial boards of prestigious journals, has authored more than 100 manuscripts and books, has been the investigator or co-investigator on many grants and contracts, and serves as a grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health and several foundations. He is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology, and has a particular interest in the clinical and basic scientific aspects of cystic fibrosis.
Named a Best Doctor in St. Louis, Dr. Wilmott is a regular contributor to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Health & Fitness section, and is a monthly guest on local television news programs.
