B. J. Manaster, MD, PhD, FACR is a professor of musculoskeletal imaging in the Department of Radiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She is also a physician on staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City. She is the co-author of Musculoskeletal Imaging, 4th Edition, a title in the Requisites in Radiology series.
Dr. Manaster is a past president of both the Society of Skeletal Radiology (SSR) and the American Association for Women Radiologists. She serves as a board examiner for the American Board of Radiology and an author for the American College of Radiology Appropriateness Criteria.
Before joining the faculty at the University of Utah, Dr. Manaster was the vice chairman and residency program director of the Department of Radiology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. Previous to that appointment, she was Chairman at the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Manaster earned her MD from the University of Florida at Gainesville in 1978. She became the chief resident in radiology at the University of Chicago and performed a fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Disease in New York City in 1983. Dr. Manaster also holds a PhD in anatomy from the University of Chicago.
Dr. Manaster is the author of many articles, chapters, and books in the field.
