Bruce Reider, MD, is a professor of surgery within the Section of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Chicago and the director of Sports Medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals. An internationally recognized leader in orthopaedic sports medicine, Dr. Reider is the author or editor of several textbooks and numerous book chapters and scientific publications, and has served as editor in chief of the American Journal of Sports Medicine. He is author of Operative Techniques: Sports Medicine Surgery.

Dr. Reider earned an AB from Yale University and an MD from Harvard Medical School. He completed post-graduate training in surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery of Cornell University Medical College, followed by fellowship training at Cornell and the University of Wisconsin. He also completed additional training in knee surgery at the Cantonspital Bruderholz in Switzerland. Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Reider has served as president of the Herodicus Society and is on the board of directors of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
