Carlos Oscar Uebel, MD, PhD is a plastic surgeon from Porto Alegre, South Brazil who works in his private clinic and is Associate Professor at Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio Grande do Sul. He is a co-author of Body Contouring and Liposuction.
Certified by the Brazilian Board of Plastic Surgery and Brazilian Board of General Surgery, Dr. Uebel has practiced plastic surgery for over 30 years and now is serving as International Director of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (SBCP) and 1st Vice-President of the International Society of Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). He introduced the Punctiform Technique in the field of hair restoration surgery in the late 1980s, which still remains the most widely used technique in baldness surgery. Dr. Uebel has also published important papers about platelet-rich plasma and platelet derived-grow factors on hair restoration. He has received the Platinum Follicle Award for outstanding achievement in research in the field of hair transplantation surgery.
Dr. Uebel is the author of numerous publications in peer-reviewed medical journals about facial and body contouring surgery, as well as several book chapters. Recently, he has published a paper about Lipoabdominoplasty in the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal. In his clinic, Dr. Uebel trains a great number of surgeons from around the world in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
