Carol M. Rumack, MD is a pioneer in pediatric brain ultrasound. She is a Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics at the Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, and has a clinical practice based at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. Her primary health research has focused on neonatal sonography of high-risk infants, particularly in the brain.

Dr. Rumack has authored many texts within the field and lectured frequently on pediatric ultrasound. Among her medical publications, she is an author of the fourth edition of Diagnostic Ultrasound. In 1982, she was elected first president of the American Association for Women Radiologists. Dr. Rumack is Fellow of the American College of Radiology, serving as Chancellor and Chair of the American College of Radiology Commission on Ultrasound. She is also a Fellow of both the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound. Dr. Rumack’s awards include the 2001 Alice Ettinger Award and the 2006 Marie Sklodowska Curie Award.
