Cecile A. Ferrando, MD, MPH is a Urogynecologist and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgeon at the Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health Institute, Cleveland Clinic. She is the author of Comprehensive Care of the Transgender Patient.

 

Dr. Ferrando attended medical school at the State University of New York (SUNY) Stony Brook, where she also completed a Masters of Public Health program. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the combined Brigham & Women’s Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital program, followed by a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.

 

Dr. Ferrando has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and 6 book chapters and has made numerous presentations at national meetings. Her clinical and research interests include surgical outcomes after repair of pelvic organ prolapse and treatment of urinary incontinence. She is also interested in complex pelvic floor reconstruction in women suffering from vaginal narrowing or shortening as a result of previous pelvic surgery or exposure to radiation therapy, and women who have concurrent colon and rectal disorders requiring a multi-disciplinary approach to their management.

 

Dr. Ferrando has an additional interest in caring for transgender patients. As part of a multidisciplinary transgender-specific team at Cleveland Clinic, her experience in this area includes providing primary care and hormone therapy services, as well as surgical consultations.
