Christopher Madden, MD, FACSM is Assistant Clinical Professor, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Department of Family Medicine, Aurora, Colorado; Sports and Family Medicine Physician in private practice, Longs Peak Family Practice and Sports Medicine, Longmont, Colorado; Team Physician, Lyons High School, Lyons, Colorado. He is a co-author of Netter’s Sports Medicine, 2nd Edition.
Dr. Madden received his MD from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, and completed a Family Medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he served as a clinical chief resident. He then performed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center at Shadyside Hospital. Dr. Madden is board certified in Family Practice and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Madden’s broad sports medicine experience includes working with athletes and active individuals at various levels, from children to professionals. He is on the clinical faculty at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Department of Family Practice, and he teaches sports medicine intermittently to residents. Dr. Madden also serves as a team physician and participates in event coverage for endurance and ultraendurance races. Dr. Madden volunteers for the underserved at the Longmont Salud Clinic where he runs a monthly sports medicine clinic.
In addition to co-editing popular sports medicine texts, Dr. Madden also edits and authors a sports medicine patient education engine that focuses on pre-visit information for an internet-based patient education company. Dr. Madden has lectured nationally on various topics and he is involved with the American College of Sports Medicine and American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. He served as the President of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine in 2014-2015 and he received the AMSSM Founder’s Award in 2011, an award granted occasionally to the “best” in the field of sports medicine.
