Dai Chung, MD is chairman and professor of surgery in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He researches the endocrine regulation of neuroblastoma and reactive oxidative stress-induced intestinal epithelial cell injury. His clinical focus is on pediatric solid tumors, necrotizing enterocolitis, pediatric burns, and minimally invasive surgery. He is author of the text Atlas of Pediatric Surgical Techniques.

Dr. Chung received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he also completed his internship and residency. He then went on to finish a National Institutes of Health research fellowship at Shriners Burns Hospital, a fellowship in pediatric surgery at Children’s Hospital Medical Center at the University of Cincinnati, and an NIH fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He is noted among America’s Top Surgeons, has served as president of the Society of University Surgeons, and is recipient of the travel award of the Society of University Surgeons, among other awards and professional affiliations.
