David Leslie Carr-Locke, MD, FACG, FRCP is Director of Endoscopy of the Division of Gastroenterology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He is also Chief of Digestive Diseases and Co-Director of the Center for Digestive Health at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Carr-Locke is the co-author of ERCP, 2nd Edition.
A recognized international leader in interventional pancreatic and biliary endoscopy, Dr. Carr-Locke has been named a Castle Connolly America’s Top Doctor every year since 2002. He received the Castle Connolly Top Doctors: New York Metro Area Award for 2011-2012. Other honors have included a Patients’ Choice Award for 2010-2011, and a 2011 Compassionate Doctor Recognition Award. He is a past president of both the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Carr-Locke received his medical degree from the University of Cambridge, England in 1972. He completed residency training in medicine and gastroenterology at University of Leicester, and fellowship training in gastroenterology at New England Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Carr-Locke’s research activities include studies of the endoscopic management of GERD, pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, the clinical application of biliary manometry, application of metallic expandable stents in the management of malignant biliary and duodenal obstruction, endoscopic techniques in portal hypertension, computing in endoscopy, and the assessment of prototype endoscopic equipment.
The author of more than 250 articles, book chapters, books and videos, Dr. Carr-Locke has conducted extensive research into new devices for therapeutic endoscopy. In addition to lecturing worldwide, he sits on the editorial board of several professional journals.
