David B. Elliott, PhD, MCOptom, FAAO is Professor of Clinical Vision Science at the University of Bradford, Bradford School of Optometry and Vision Sciences in the UK. He is the author of the highly regarded Clinical Procedures in Primary Eye Care, 4th Edition.
Dr. Elliott graduated from Bradford Optometry in 1983 and became a Member of the College of Optometrists in 1984. He obtained his PhD on the topic of the assessment of cataract. After serving as an assistant professor at the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in Canada, he returned to Bradford in 1995.
As a professor of optometry at Bradford, Dr. Elliott is a module leader for Clinical Optometry and Communication Skills and a contributor to Visual and Ocular Assessment and Ocular and Systemic Disease. Dr. Elliott also serves as Editor of Clinical Procedures in Primary Eye Care and its associated website and Editor-in-Chief of Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics, the research journal of the College of Optometrists.
Dr. Elliott’s primary area of research is in clinical vision science, particularly issues related to quality of life, including assessment of quality of life with refractive correction, vision control of gait and posture, and assessment of cataract. Dr. Elliott has published many articles in the peer-reviewed literature in his areas of interest.
