David A. May, MD is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Radiology at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He is also in private practice at Radiology Associates of Richmond as well as the co-author of Musculoskeletal Imaging, 4th Edition, a title in the Requisites in Radiology series.
The recipient of a Patient’s Choice Award in 2008, Dr. May is a member of several medical societies including the Society of Skeletal Radiology, Society for Pediatric Radiology, American Society of Spine Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiologic Society of North America, International Cartilage Repair Society, American College of Radiology, and the Medical Society of Virginia. He is a past president of the Richmond Radiologic Society.
Dr. May received his medical degree in 1988 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. After an internship at Malden Hospital in Massachusetts, he completed a radiology residency at the University of Vermont in 1993. Dr. May then performed a fellowship in musculoskeletal and pediatric radiology while serving a military commitment at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio.
Dr. May is board certified in diagnostic radiology and pediatric radiology with special expertise in bone fractures. He has authored a number of articles and also serves a reviewer for major publications in the field.
