David Sidebotham, MD, MBChB, FANZCA, is a doctor in the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand. He is one of the foremost leaders in the anesthesia and critical care community in Australia and New Zealand and has developed an international reputation in the field as well.

Dr. Sidebotham has authored a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals, especially in the areas of patient-controlled analgesia in the management of acute postoperative pain and cardiothoracic critical care. He is a primary author of Practical Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography, which is now in its second edition. Dr. Sidebotham has also served as editor of the book Cardiothoracic Critical Care.
