Eugene N. Myers, MD, FACS, FRCS Edin (Hon) is Distinguished Professor, Emeritus of Otolaryngology; Emeritus Chair, Department of Otolaryngology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine; and Professor, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He is a co-author of Operative Otolaryngology, 3rd Edition.

 

Dr. Myers is a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine. He did his residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, followed by a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery in New York with Dr. John Conley. Dr. Myers became Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1972, a position he held for 33 years.

 

A specialist in head and neck cancer surgery who has published hundreds of articles, book chapters, and books on the subject, Dr. Myers is a past President of the American Board of Otolaryngology, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Head and Neck Society, the American Laryngological Society, and the Pan American Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He continues to be very active in patient care and teaching.

 

Myers has delivered over 500 talks before learned medical societies in the U.S. and on six continents between 1964 and 2013. He’s also moderated over 200 panels during that time, and has delivered more than 50 eponymous addresses, including the second John Conley Lecture at Columbia University in 1999, and the first David Myers Distinguished Lecture (named in memory of Dr. Myers’ father) at the University of Pennsylvania in 2005.
