Gerald M. Fenichel, MD is a highly regarded child neurologist and serves as Neurologist-in-Chief at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. He previously served as Chairman of Vanderbilt’s Neurology Department and founded its Muscular Dystrophy Association clinic. He is an author of the two-volume set, Bradley’s Neurology in Clinical Practice, 6th Edition, and lead author of Clinical Pediatric Neurology, 6th Edition.
Dr. Fenichel’s primary research interest is in neuromuscular disorders in both children and adults, and he is the author of dozens of articles published in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Fenichel has served on numerous editorial boards, government committees, and has been a member of several medical societies. He also served as president of the Child Neurology Society and the Southern Clinical Neurological Society. Among his honors and awards, Dr. Fenichel has received the Hower Award of the Child Neurology Society, the Zimmerman Award from the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital house staff, and has been recognized as a Top Doctor for many years.
