Honorio Benzon, MD serves as Professor of Anesthesiology at Northwestern University Medical School and Chief of the Division of Pain Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Among his clinical and research interests are regional anesthesia, management of chronic pain, outcome measures in pain research, and safety and neuraxial and regional anesthesia.
Dr. Benzon holds his MD from Far Eastern University. He completed a fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, a residency at Northwestern McGaw, and internships at Overlook Hospital in New Jersey and Saint Luke’s Hospital in Manila. He is board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine.
Dr. Benzon has been noted as a Top Doctor in Chicago for several years by Chicago Magazine, as an American Top Doctor in the Castle Connolly Guide. He has also been recognized as Most Distinguished Physician by Philippine Medical Association in Chicago. He has served as editor of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, associate editor of Pain Digest, and is on the editorial board of the Clinical Journal of Pain. Dr. Benzon is an author of the text Essentials of Pain Medicine, 3rd Edition, Spinal Injections & Peripheral Nerve Blocks, and Raj’s Practical Management of Pain, 4th Edition. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of Chicago and has served as President of the Midwest Pain Society.
