Iain B. McInnes, PhD, FRCP, FRSE is Director of the Institute of Infection, Immunity, and Inflammation at the College of Medical, Veterinary, and Life Sciences of Glasgow Biomedical Research Centre at the University of Glasgow, UK. He is a professor of experimental medicine and rheumatology and holds the position of Muirhead Chair of Medicine. Dr. McInnes is a co-author of Kelley’s Textbook of Rheumatology, 9th Edition.
Dr. McInnes’ professional interests include the biology of inflammatory synovitis in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and septic arthritis. At the Institute of Infection, Immunity, and Inflammation, he oversees a translational science program in which state-of-the-art cellular and molecular biology techniques are applied to discover the mechanisms behind the perpetuation of synovial inflammation. Dr. McInnes is also involved with an extensive clinical trials facility performing studies of novel biologic agents in inflammatory arthritis.
The recipient of many research grants, Dr. McInnes has authored or contributed to over 150 articles in the field.
