Interview with Drs. Kaisorn Chaichana and Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, authors of Intrinsic and Skull Base Tumors, 1st Edition

Why did you feel that it was important to write Intrinsic and Skull Base Tumors and what does its publication add to the field?

There is no concise literature that reviews cases on how several experts would do the case from the preoperative, to work, to the intraoperative management, to postoperative care. This care is not only varied across experts, but across institutions and geographical locations. This book attempts to capture that.

What is the most exciting aspect of Intrinsic and Skull Base Tumors? What chapter or topic covered in the new edition are you most excited about?

All the above.  All 77 chapters captures this essence and shows the variability in management.

Who will find the greatest value from this book and why?

Neurosurgeons and residents as it shows different ways to handle the same case.

What new ideas, practices, or procedures do you hope your readers take away from Intrinsic and Skull Base Tumors?

This book shows the variability in management. It shows there are many different ways to do the same case, using different resources and postop care. This is the first of its kind. We continually received positive feedback from reviewers about this book in regards to its novelty, importance, and information.
