Jeffrey S. Ross, MD is Senior Associate Consultant, Neuroradiology Division, Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic Arizona and Professor of Radiology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Phoenix. He is a co-author of Diagnostic Imaging: Spine, 3rd Edition and Imaging in Spine Surgery.

 

Dr. Ross was first in his class at the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo. He was then chief resident at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, after which he performed a fellowship in Neuroradiology at the University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western Reserve University.  He is board certified in radiology and neuroradiology.

 

In his career, Dr. Ross has received many awards and honors, including the Lifetime Service Award from the American Board of Radiology, the ASSR Gold Medal Award from the Annual Symposium of the American Society of Spine Radiology, Neuroradiology Fellow Teacher of the Year Award from St. Joseph’s Hospital / Barrow Neurological Institute, First Place Medical Book Award from the British Medical Association, and the Editors Recognition Award for Reviewing with Distinction from Radiology Journal.

 

Dr. Ross has given over 160 postgraduate talks covering a wide variety of neuroradiologic imaging topics, from spinal disc disease to brain tumors and spectroscopy. In addition, he has given over 70 scientific lectures, including presentations to residents, fellows, and staff in a variety of venues. Dr. Ross has authored or co-authored 11 books and over 30 book chapters. His research achievements include over 120 oral presentations at national meetings, 16 scientific exhibits, and over 90 peer-reviewed publications.

 

Dr. Ross has held a broad spectrum of service and organizational-related responsibilities at the national level. He is currently an active reviewer for several specialty journals and serves as a senior editor for American Journal of Neuroradiology. He has had the privilege of serving as founding member and first President of the American Society of Spine Radiology, now an integral component of the American Society of Neuroradiology. He is also past president of the Eastern Neuroradiologic Society, and was a fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM). Dr. Ross has also been an oral examiner for the American Board of Radiology’s Neuroradiology Subspecialty Examination.
