Jeffrey E. Budoff, MD is a Board & Certified Orthopaedic Hand & Upper extremity surgeon involved in cutting-edge research involving the treatment of upper extremity disorders. Dr. Budoff has written and published over 40 articles in leading medical journals and has authored 20 textbook chapters. In addition, he has edited five textbooks on the treatment of disorders of the upper extremity (hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder). Among his medical publications are Core Knowledge in Orthopaedics: Hand, Elbow, and Shoulder and the second edition of Principles of Hand Surgery and Therapy. He serves on national committees and frequently lectures at national meetings.
Dr. Budoff serves as an Associate Master Instructor of shoulder arthroscopy for a national organization and teaches other practicing orthopaedic surgeons the most up-to-date techniques of arthroscopic shoulder surgery. He was a Leadership Fellow for both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Hand Surgery and a reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, two of the most prestigious orthopaedic journals, where he helps other surgeons prepare their manuscripts for publication.
Dr. Budoff graduated Cum Laude from Harvard University and with honors from Cornell Medical School. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine, where his test scores over his four years of residency were among the highest in the nation. In order to obtain expertise covering the entire upper extremity, he completed two fellowships, one in Hand Surgery and the other in Sports Medicine. He is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and has a Certificate of Additional Qualification in Hand Surgery. Dr. Budoff spent 9 years teaching medical students, residents and Hand Surgery Fellows at the Baylor College of Medicine, where he was an Associate Professor. Dr. Budoff is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas, Houston.
