Jennifer A. Harvey, MD is Head of the Division of Breast Imaging and Professor of Radiology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia. She is a co-author of Making the Diagnosis: A Practical Guide to Breast Imaging.
Dr. Harvey trained in Arizona, receiving her undergraduate degree in zoology and chemistry from Northern Arizona University and her medical degree from the University of Arizona. She also completed her residency training in diagnostic radiology at the University of Arizona, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Harvey is board certified in diagnostic radiology.
Dr. Harvey has been the Head of the Division of Breast Imaging at UVA since 1994, and Director or Co-Director of the UVA Breast Program since 2000. Her honors and awards include the American Roentgen Ray Society Presidents Award for Resident Research, the Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence, and the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation Sharon H. Kohlenberg Healthcare Service Award. She is a fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging and the American College of Radiology.
Dr. Harvey’s primary research interest is mammographic breast density and the association with breast cancer risk.
