Jerome F. Strauss III, MD, PhD is Dean of the School of Medicine, Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. He is a co-author of Yen & Jaffe’s Reproductive Endocrinology, 6th Edition.

Dr. Strauss earned his medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He has held dozens of hospital and administrative appointments during his 30+ year career and received numerous awards and honors. Over the years he has contributed to the international scientific community as an editor and editorial board member for journals in gynecology and obstetrics as well as general scientific publications such as Science.

Dr. Strauss has been internationally recognized for his research and research training programs, which have been sponsored continuously by the National Institutes of Health for more than 20 years. He also has served as an elected officer or member of many national and international medical science organizations. In recognition of his outstanding achievements and internationally renowned scholarship, Dr. Strauss was elected to the Institute of Medicine in 1994.
