Joe Niamtu III, DMD, FAACS is in Cosmetic Facial Surgery private practice in Richmond, Virginia. He is the author of Cosmetic Facial Surgery, 2nd Edition.
Dr. Niamtu graduated from the Case Western Reserve School Of Dental Medicine and performed residencies at Carolinas Medical Center and Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. He is well known in international cosmetic facial surgery circles as a surgeon, teacher, and author and is regarded as a key opinion leader by academics and clinicians worldwide. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and The American Board of Cosmetic Facial Surgery.
Dr. Niamtu lectures internationally on cosmetic facial surgery and has taught on six continents. He has written four textbooks as well as 30 chapters in other textbooks, and has authored hundreds of publications on various cosmetic facial topics and a cosmetic facial surgery DVD series. Dr. Niamtu is a member of the board of directors of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and has served on the board of directors of the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation.
Among his many awards are the W. Harry Archer Award for his contributions to cosmetic facial surgery and the Golden Scalpel award from the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery for “excellence, dedication, advancement, and contribution to the field of cosmetic surgery.” The Bellevue Hospital Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Alumni Program named Dr. Niamtu the recipient of their 31st annual William F. Harrigan award for major contributions in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also a thirteen-time winner of “Best Cosmetic Surgeon” in Richmond and Virginia.
