“We tried to keep Clinical Radiation Oncology friendly and approachable both for the practicing physician, who treats and manages patients, and for the trainee who needs to understand the critical issues to be ready to practice medicine independently and to do such basic things as pass the boards.” – Dr. Joel Tepper

New in This Edition of Clinical Radiation Oncology

In the third edition of Clinical Radiation Oncology we added a couple of chapters — one dealing with late effects and outcomes research, which is an area of great interest in radiation oncology. We also maintained the full-color format for the book, which is critically important in radiation oncology. So much of what we do is illustrated by computer graphics and so the color capabilities are essential.

We tried to keep Clinical Radiation Oncology friendly and approachable both for the practicing physician, who treats and manages patients, and for the trainee who needs to understand the critical issues to be ready to practice medicine independently and to do such basic things as pass the boards.

A Perfect Match

Clinical Radiation Oncology and the journal Seminars in Radiation Oncology are a perfect match. Clinical Radiation Oncology provides the global outlook and a total overview of what’s going on within diseases and treatment. Seminars in Radiation Oncology addresses a rapidly changing topical area in which there is a lot of controversy. The book and the journal present different sides of the story and keep readers updated on what’s new and exciting.

About Clinical Radiation Oncology

We’ve been very pleased with the structure of the first two editions of Clinical Radiation Oncology, so we tried to keep aspects of the first edition that both we and our readers liked. We kept the brief summaries of the disease sites at the beginning of each chapter, which give an overview of the disease that the chapter will discuss. We also include a variety of algorithms issues such as how to decide to treat patients. We’ve maintained those algorithms so that the reader can quickly understand management strategies. When you’re dealing with a lot of text, it’s sometimes very difficult to figure out what to do in specific clinical situations. So we hope the algorithms help.
