John Gebhart, MD is a researcher, faculty member, and Fellowship Program Director in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Mayo Clinic. He has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and is an author of Urologic Surgery for the Gynecologist and Urogynecologist.
Dr. Gebhart holds an MD from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine, and completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in urogynecology-reconstructive pelvic surgery at the Mayo Clinic. He is board certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, as well as in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Prior to his current role at the Mayo Clinic, he served as director of the Urogynecology Continence and Pelvic Organ Prolapse Clinic. The Mayo Clinic has recognized his commitment to education with awards for Excellence in Teaching. In addition to his clinical and academic pursuits, he is active in many professional societies. He has served on the board of directors of the American Urogynecologic Society, the Education Committee for the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons and the Video Committee for the International Urogynecologic Association.
