Joseph Jankovic, MD, is a Professor of Neurology and Distinguished Chair and Director of the Parkinson Disease Center and Movement Disorders Clinic at Baylor College of Medicine, which has been recognized as a “Center of Excellence” by the National Parkinson Foundation and the Huntington Disease Society of America. Dr. Jankovic is one of the top movement disorder experts in the world. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, is a fellow of the AAN, and is an active member of many other professional organizations. He is an author of the sixth edition of Bradley’s Neurology in Clinical Practice and Botulinum Toxin.
Dr. Jankovic is well recognized in the field, having served as past president of the international Movement Disorder Society and as an honorary member of the American Neurological Association, Australian Association of Neurologists, French Neurological Society, and other organizations. Dr. Jankovic has authored over 800 original articles and chapters, and edited or co-edited over 50 books and volumes. His research interests include Parkinson disease and other parkinsonian disorders, tremors, dystonia, Tourette syndrome, Huntington disease, myoclonus, tardive dyskinesia, restless legs syndrome, paroxysmal dyskinesias, psychogenic movement disorders, and various neurodegenerative disorders, as well as medical, surgical, and experimental therapeutics of movement disorders.
Previously named as a “Great Teacher” by the National Institute of Health, Dr. Jankovic is the recipient of many honors. Among them are the American Academy of Neurology Movement Disorders Research Award from the Parkinson Disease Foundation, the Guthrie Family Humanitarian Award from the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the national Tourette Syndrome Association, the Baylor College of Medicine Alumni Association Distinguished Faculty Award and the Fulbright & Jaworski Faculty Excellence Award. Dr. Jankovic is also listed in The Best Doctors in America, America’s Top Doctors, and Who’s Who in the World.
