Joseph F. Polak, MD, MPH, is Chief of Radiology at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital and a Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. He has special interest in the fields of cardiovascular imaging, interventional radiology, imaging of atherosclerosis and plaque evaluation, epidemiology and imaging of cardiovascular and venous disease and phenotypic markers of atherosclerosis. He is a prolific author within the field, including the text Introduction to Vascular Ultrasonography, 6th Edition.
After earning his MD from McGill Medical School, Dr. Polak held an internship and residency at Royal Victoria Hospital, a radiology fellowship from Harvard Medical School, and served as a clinical fellow in radiology from Bringham and Women’s hospital. He holds certifications from the American Board of Radiology and is a member of the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, the American Medical Association, the American Heart Association, and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
Dr. Polak is recognized as an honorary member of the French Canadian Radiological Society and an honorary member of the Radiological Society of Chile. He is recipient of the Young Investigator Award by the International College of Angiology and a Figley Fellow in Radiology Journalism.
