Katarzyna J. Macura, MD, PhD is Associate Professor of Radiology, Oncology, and Urology at Johns Hopkins University and Hospital in Baltimore. She is a co-author of Genitourinary Imaging, 3rd edition.
Dr. Macura received her MD and PhD from the Medical University of Lodz, Poland. She performed an internship at the Polish Mothers’ Health Center, a residency in diagnostic radiology at the Medical College of Georgia, and a fellowship in cross-sectional body imaging at Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Macura’s areas of clinical interest include thoraco-abdominal imaging, MRI, CT, and ultrasound and image-guided intervention. Her areas of research include female and male pelvic imaging with MRI, urinary incontinence and pelvic floor imaging in women, functional and multi-parametric MR imaging in prostate cancer, MR-guided Interventions, and imaging informatics.
Dr. Macura is a past president of the American Association for Women Radiologists. She has received numerous awards, including a Certificate of Merit from the Radiological Society of North America; Marconi award, AUR Faculty Development Program; AAWR Research and Education Foundation Leadership Award; Society of Computed Body Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Young Investigator Award; Certificate of Merit, ARRS Meeting; Radiology Editor’s Recognition Award; several awards for scientific presentations; Outstanding Faculty Teacher of the Year Residents’ Award, Johns Hopkins University; American Roentgen Ray Society Philips Medical Systems Scholar; and a Certificate of Honor for the 5th place in the ranking of “Women’s Imaging Specialists” by the 2007 Medical Imaging Industry.
